About Afrec
Established in 2025, the African Agricultural and Forestry Research Center (AFREC) is a non-profit scientific research organization that conducts research on the use and management of Agriculture and forests with a focus on crops resistance low water in Somalia.
we are dedicated to advancing agricultural and forestry practices through innovative research.
Our thematic areas
AFREC’s research plan is structured around four primary themes, each critical to addressing the diverse agricultural and forestry needs of the country:
Field Crops
To improve the productivity, resilience, and sustainability of major field crops in Somalia.
Fodder Crops
To enhance the availability and nutritional quality of fodder crops for livestock production.
Trees for Forests
To advance sustainable forest management and conservation practices for enhanced ecosystem services and biodiversity.
Vegetable Crops
To increase the production, quality, and marketability of vegetable crops, ensuring food security and income generation for smallholder farmers.
